About

Amouage

Amouage is the brainchild of Qaboos Bin Said, the Sultan of Oman. He gave the order in 1983 to launch a perfume brand that captures, protects and preserves Oman’s age-old perfumery traditions. Amouage means “wave” in Arabic. The name was also chosen because of its uncanny resemblance to the French word for love, “Amour”.

The very talented Belgian Renaud Salmon, who has a high level track record in luxury , is the creative director of Amouage. The design and fragrances are based on the culture and scents of the Gulf States. Salmon’s signature approach is to  pair the tradition with contemporay touches.  2024 marks the 40th birthday of the brand. To start the anniversary year a breathtaking light spectacle was projected on the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
