The pigment
Roucou – Bixa Orellana – also known as Wantura in the Quechua language, is a sacred plant for the peoples of the Amazon.
Described as the “eternal bush” lining the road to paradise, it is used for body painting as well as for dyeing their woven crafts. Known for its antioxidant properties, Roucou is also an ingredient in Tascalate, a traditional Mexican drink.
